Moving Socrates explores the contemporary relevancy of six questions asked by the Greek philosopher and scholar Socrates (469 BC–399 BC) through the voices of 21st century dance artists. The screen dance short was inspired by Christopher Phillips’ book “Six Questions of Socrates: A Modern Day Journey of Discovery Through World Philosophy,” and by the varied, visceral landscape of New York City. Through the eye of a single hand-held camera, Director Kim Karpanty exposes the performers in iconic locations with words and movement.
